Many scientific concepts which were accepted by a scientific consensus in the past have been disproven or proven to only be valid in specific situations. That means that our current scientific knowledge can also be questioned or advanced by the next generations. Veritism, although it is based on scientific knowledge, it is thus also requiring some degree of faith in that knowledge.
Still, that does not make Veritism a religion, as scientific knowledge is confirmed by observations or experiments which can give correct predictions about reality with extremely high probability. That is why Veritism is more like a doctrine - a set of principles and knowledge which are curated from science to form a unified teaching.
Veritism is compatible with all religions in a way that people can be both Christians and Veritists or Muslim and Veritists at the same time. Concrete religious beliefs from all faiths, like the existence of souls, which science cannot prove or disprove, Veritism sees as part of "individual truths" (i.e. personal veritisms) we must understand.
Veritism has some elements which make it meaningfully different from religions:
- Veritism has its own rituals but which are based on psychological advice and research on human happiness
- Veritism offers advice and guidance to people in need from licensed psychologists
- Veritism offers answers to questions which burden people (answers by competent scientists and psychologists)
- Veritism helps people through thematic lectures to become better people (critical thinking, learning skills, etc)
Veritism is not using tax-incentives and exemptions provided to religious organizations.
